Miners’ Day Program
Miners’ Day starts with Breakfast from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM in City Park. After a good hearty meal, join the virtual Miners’ Day Bark City 5k Run, get funky and wear your best costume or bring your dog while running a fast 5k course!
Around 10:30 a.m. the Running of the Balls takes place in Main Street (get there early to buy balls!). You can purchase a ball now by visiting parkcityminersday.org. They’re also available in coming weeks from any Rotarian, at Silly Market, or in person on the day of the event. In this major highlight organizers release thousands of balls from the top of Main Street before cheering throngs. Beforehand, patrons can pay to sponsor one ball, or many, and if their ball is one of the top finishers at the bottom of the street, they’re eligible for prizes. It’s one of their most important fundraisers. This is where Rotary Club raises money for their nonprofits in the community,
After the exciting run, make space for the Miners’ Day Parade to come through! Cherish from the side of the road to the locals and business with their costumes and floats! Food trucks, music, kids games, kid’s activities and much more take place after noon. Our small town celebrates the whole day and you are welcome to join!
One change this year is that the traditional Miners Mucking and Drilling competition is now a demonstration. Park City’s mining heritage is on display at the Mucking and Drilling Demonstrations in City Park beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Miner’s Day celebrates Park City’s mining heritage. Starting in the 19th century and continuing until just a few decades ago, Park City was an ore rich silver mining town that as locals we are proud of. Join us in the celebrations!
