At Abode Park City, we want your summer to be as enjoyable as possible. After all, that’s what summer is for: fun!

In our last post we mentioned that Park City is home to multiple outdoor shows. Besides Deer Valley, the Canyons also hosts a series of concerts in the summer! The free concerts during the Canyons Concert Series are the best for gathering friends and family. You can either sit back on a blanket and relax or get up and dance to the music! The environment is so friendly and captures all the best parts of Park City: the culture, the variety, and the liveliness! Look around and you will see people excited about life! In the outdoor amphitheater at the Canyons Resort there is a playground area for kids, so feel free to bring the whole family! Sit back and soak up the Park City Lifestyle.

Part of what makes a vacation in Park City, Utah so amazing is the authentic experience visitors have in this small mountain town. These unique experiences aren’t limited to the winter. In the summer Park City is host to an amazing series of Deer Valley outdoor concerts.  There are other awesome outdoor concert venues as well but for this post we’ll focus on Deer Valley.

Deer Valley hosts three different outdoor summer concert series at the Snow Park base where they have an amazing band shell erected facing back to the slopes and surrounded every night by a spectacular sunset. Concert enthusiasts have a choice between concerts put on by The Big Stars Bright Night series, The Deer Valley Music Festival Series or the free Mountain Town Music series.  Below is more information on each of these series along with links to each of their online schedules and ticket booking systems.

The Big Stars, Bright Nights concert series at the Deer Valley amphitheater showcases well-known talent that is sure to put on a great show. Dierks Bentley, Kix Brooks, the entire cast from the show Nashville, and Vince Gill (among others) will help you get in touch with your “country” side! A guaranteed fun time, you can even bring a picnic and view from the lawn area!

– View the full schedule of concerts lined up for the rest of the summer.

– Ticket prices range depending on the concert and if you would rather sit in low chairs up close to the stage in the VIP area or if you are more comfortable in the open seating area where everyone brings blankets and lounges out under the stars.

The Deer Valley Music Festival takes place on some Fridays and Saturdays can show you more of a variety of styles and genres, from symphonic to classic rock. The Deer Valley Music Festival schedule is available here online.

Deer Valley also hosts free concerts every Wednesday! See the schedule for the free concerts where everyone is welcome to bring a blanket and picnic to relax and enjoy the gorgeous mountain surroundings while taking in great music, good friends and libations on the grass.

In our previous posts on the abode Park City blog we’ve touted the greatness of the Deer Valley Outdoor Concerts

We truly hope that if you are in Park City during the summer you take the time to experience these great evening events.

July 4th is around the corner and along with all the wonderful festivities that take place here in Park City for the Independence Celebration – Deer Valley will be hosting Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Alejandro Escovedo for what is sure to be a tremendous night of music.  If you’ve got your tickets and are ready to go – all you need now is a picnic basket!  Some people opt to get fancy pre-made baskets from places like Deer Valley Signatures or the Waldorf Astoria.  These fancy baskets are truly amazing and a great treat you have to try at least once.

Or maybe you’ll pack your own picnic…if so we suggest you bring – at the very least – the following list of items:
– Wine
– Plastic wine glasses
– Blankets (one or two to lay on and one to put over you if it gets cool when the sun goes down)
– Napkins
– Bottled water
– Small cheese board
– A couple yummy cheeses
– Crackers
– Some grapes or other fruit

Of course you can also pull together more elaborate foods if you’re with a group and want to make a dinner under the stars out of the whole deal…if that’s the case – here’s a great appetizer recipe that’s easy to prepare, serve and eat at an outdoor concert (this is a tried and true recipe we’ve used at this venue many times)

Here’s what you need:
– a package of toothpicks
– a package of grape tomatoes
one container of small round mozzarella balls (often labeled bocconcini)
– fresh basil
– one small stick of pepperoni
– one jar of olives

All you have to do now is cut the tomatoes, olives and mozzarella balls in half and slice the salami.  Rinse the basil and pull the leaves off the stems.  Then assemble the pieces onto the toothpicks in any order as you see fit (sometimes making them all different is fun).  Throw the assembled sticks into a tupperware container and off you go to the concert with a healthy (veggies, protien, dairy all included)  and yummy treat to share with your neighbors out on the beautiful lawn at Deer Valley!  Enjoy!!!!

If you don’t have a summer trip to Park City booked yet and you would like to look into renting a luxury vacation property in Deer Valley or a fabulous rental in Old Town – we can easily help you to plan and book your dream summer mountain getaway!  Just contact us at abode Park City and we will help make your summer vacation dreams come true!!!!
