Have Fun at the Miner’s Day Celebration

When you head to Park City over Labor Day, you’re going to want to take advantage of all the fun that awaits at the annual Miner’s Day Celebration. This yearly event is a fan-favorite among locals and visitors alike and kicks off with a pancake breakfast hosted at City Park for just $5 a person. Once you’re fueled up for the fun ahead, it’s time to make your way to Main Street where you can purchase a numbered golf ball and participate in the highly anticipated Running of Balls! This event sees thousands of numbered golf balls released onto the road from the top of Main Street with prizes waiting for those that reach the finish line first. In years past, prizes have been as exciting as ski resort passes so giving your golf ball a shot is always worth it. Next up is the annual Labor Day Parade which typically kicks off around 11:00 am and is a family-friendly experience that’s sure to inspire everyone in your traveling crew. The parade begins on Main Street and Park Avenue and ends up at City Park. The conclusion of the parade opens up the afternoon to BBQ, games, and live music in the park. The afternoon continues on with a full-fledged mining demonstration just across the street from City Library. This event is a chance for guests to observe miners from across the country put their digging and mucking skills on display! The evening highlight is the Skateboard Pro Bow Jam which is a great showcase for amateur and pro skateboarders alike. It’s an impressive display whether you’re a skateboarder yourself, or just interested in being a spectator.

Enjoy a Round of Golf This Labor Day

Adventurers that can’t get enough of time on the greens no matter where they roam will love that Park City is the perfect place to book a tee time over Labor Day. Set your sights on Wasatch Mountain State Park Golf for an amazing experience on the course complete with breathtaking views the entire way through. The greens here are notoriously smooth and green while it’s entirely possible to pair wildlife watching with opportunities to work on your short and long game when you enjoy a round of golf here. Have your fill of deer and moose sightings at this course which is no more than 30 minutes from the center of Park City and one that’s likely to call you back a time or two.

Take a Holiday Hike in Good Company

With the Labor Day weather often on your side this time of year, planning a hike for your holiday away is always a good idea in Park City. This destination is loved for its scenic appeal and getting out and trekking some of the best routes is a great way to make the most of it all. Lace up your boots and consider making your way along the Armstrong Trail during your Labor Day adventures. This is a popular hiking trail that leads to the top of Park City Mountain and is relatively steep but rewards you with sweeping city and mountain views from the summit. Stop in the forested plateau area at the top and enjoy a rest before heading down for more in-town fun ahead.

Add Musical Fun to Your Itinerary

For music enthusiasts heading to Park City over Labor Day, it’s a good idea to look into the two free concert series that the city hosts this time of year. Canyons Village often holds free concerts on Thursday and Saturday nights through Labor Day weekend while Park City Mountain Village organizes performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays this time of year.

Celebrate Swiss Days

Another fun event that happens over Labor Day in Park City is the annual Swiss Days. Hosted the Friday and Saturday before Labor Day, Swiss Days is a Midway volunteer-organized experience complete with Swiss German food booths to explore, an outdoor craft fair to enjoy, and a traditional Swiss Parade that happens at 10:00 am the Saturday before Labor Day. Live musical entertainment is always on the lineup and a fun time is practically guaranteed! The event is located in the Midway Town Hall and festivities begin at 8:00 am each day.

Beforehand, patrons can pay to sponsor one ball, or many, and if their ball is one of the top finishers at the bottom of the street, they’re eligible for prizes.
