With the great weather that Park City summers always serve up it’s no wonder there are so many evening outdoor concert options for visitors and locals to love!

In previous posts we’ve mentioned the great Deer Valley Outdoor Concert Series a couple times but there are a few other options to explore as well.  One of those options is the Hops on the Hill which takes place every Tuesday this July.  The fun weekly event takes place on the lawn at Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley.  There will be a total of five Tuesday evening craft beer tasting events.  Attendees have a chance to sample locally made beer with interesting and delicious food pairings created by Chef Zane Holmquist.  The beer tasting begins at 6pm and goes until 7:30pm.

And if that’s not enough for you – the events also feature a free concert from 7pm to 9pm.

Full Tasting Tickets are $30 plus tax ($15 food, $15 beer). To make advance reservations call 435-645-6455. Guests must be 21+ to attend  the event.  The ticket price includes beer samples, food, and a souvenir glass.  This is a fabulous way to enjoy a beautiful Deer Valley evening!

In our previous posts on the abode Park City blog we’ve touted the greatness of the Deer Valley Outdoor Concerts

We truly hope that if you are in Park City during the summer you take the time to experience these great evening events.

July 4th is around the corner and along with all the wonderful festivities that take place here in Park City for the Independence Celebration – Deer Valley will be hosting Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys and Alejandro Escovedo for what is sure to be a tremendous night of music.  If you’ve got your tickets and are ready to go – all you need now is a picnic basket!  Some people opt to get fancy pre-made baskets from places like Deer Valley Signatures or the Waldorf Astoria.  These fancy baskets are truly amazing and a great treat you have to try at least once.

Or maybe you’ll pack your own picnic…if so we suggest you bring – at the very least – the following list of items:
– Wine
– Plastic wine glasses
– Blankets (one or two to lay on and one to put over you if it gets cool when the sun goes down)
– Napkins
– Bottled water
– Small cheese board
– A couple yummy cheeses
– Crackers
– Some grapes or other fruit

Of course you can also pull together more elaborate foods if you’re with a group and want to make a dinner under the stars out of the whole deal…if that’s the case – here’s a great appetizer recipe that’s easy to prepare, serve and eat at an outdoor concert (this is a tried and true recipe we’ve used at this venue many times)

Here’s what you need:
– a package of toothpicks
– a package of grape tomatoes
one container of small round mozzarella balls (often labeled bocconcini)
– fresh basil
– one small stick of pepperoni
– one jar of olives

All you have to do now is cut the tomatoes, olives and mozzarella balls in half and slice the salami.  Rinse the basil and pull the leaves off the stems.  Then assemble the pieces onto the toothpicks in any order as you see fit (sometimes making them all different is fun).  Throw the assembled sticks into a tupperware container and off you go to the concert with a healthy (veggies, protien, dairy all included)  and yummy treat to share with your neighbors out on the beautiful lawn at Deer Valley!  Enjoy!!!!

Abode at Deer Valley is a perfect location to base your summer vacation from.  This home is located just around the corner from Deer Valley Resort.  In case you aren’t already aware, Deer Valley was the #1 ski resort in the US for three years running and is also a mecca for mountain bikers and hiking trail enthusiasts alike.  This spacious mountain home is down right dreamy.  Beautifully designed with custom touches the thoughtful design offers master suite bedrooms and baths so that you and your guests will each have five star accommodations.  Don’t forget the great chef’s kitchen, five bedrooms, huge great room with massive stone fireplace, wine cellar, wet bar, hot tub, and large open floor plan great for entertaining.  This home a must see.

In our last post we talked a lot about the Deer Valley Summer Concert Series because honestly it is one of our very favorite things to do every year.  There’s another summer treat that we look forward to as the weather begins to warm and that is the Park Silly Market.

The Park Silly Sunday Market is held on Main Street in Park City every Sunday between June 9th and September 22nd from 10am to 5pm.  We love to ride our bikes to the market and spend a couple hours perusing the vendor booths, listening to live music, running into friends, eating from the great food vendor booths and of course partaking in the awesome beer garden and bloody mary cart.

Another great part of the Park Silly Sunday Market is the farmers market area they set up.  The farmers market vendors that come to the Park Silly Market always have tons of amazing produce to offer up such as farm fresh cherries, peaches, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, cheeses, spices and more.  Don’t miss out on this part of the market – the Utah produce is truly spectacular!

So if you’re considering a visit to Park City this summer and you’re wondering if there is anything to do once the snow melts…well let this post be proof that there is tons to do ESPECIALLY on Sundays in Park City at the Park Silly Market.

Summers in Park City are often overlooked…sometimes the locals prefer it that way…but let us here at abode Park City be the ones to share the secret – DON’T MISS OUT ON PARK CITY SUMMERS!

There are tons of reasons to come visit Park City and Deer Valley in June, July and August. The outdoor activities available are endless. If you’re interested in mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, road biking, camping, or just spending some time in the sun with no humidity and a perfect breeze…well Park City is about ideal as you can get.

One of our favorite things about summer in Park City is the Deer Valley Summer Concert Series. The Deer Valley Concert Series is held outside at the Snow Park area of Deer Valley in a concert shell that is put up every summer at the base of the mountain.

Concert goers can choose to:
1) bring their own blankets and picnic supplies (wine and cheese) and sit with friends and family on the lawn to watch the show or
2) buy the fancy seats up front where lawn chairs are provided and you get a closer look at the performers.
Either way these concerts are a wonderful experience for a date, a family outing, a girls night out or a vacation treat.
The performers that the Park City Performing Arts team brings in are top notch and I have never once been disappointed at one of these shows.

This year the lineup includes:
July 4th – Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Alejandro Escovedo
July 25th – Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers, Railroad Earth
July 30th – Natalie Maines
August 4th – Darlene Love and Muscle Shoals Live
August 17th – Lyle Lovett and His Large Band
August 24th – Jewel
August 31st – One Republic, Sara Barielles, Churchhill

It’s time for the fat lady to sing us into the end of the 2013 Park City, Utah ski season…but she’s hitting a high note on her way out. The slopes at Deer Valley have been amazing the last couple of days with 20 new inches of snow this week and two absolutely blue bird days all before closing weekend.

Booking a ski vacation for closing week at the resorts can sometimes be risky. But our customers who booked vacation rentals in abode’s Park City and Deer Valley properties this week are patting themselves on the back for a good decision made. This week has been exemplary in great weather and sweet snow.

There’s nothing like participating with the locals in all the end of season festivities. And there is no where anyone would rather be than on the beach at Deer Valley’s Silver Lake Village on a closing weekend afternoon…sipping on a cold beer while soaking in the warm sunshine after a perfect ending to a great ski season. The ski costumes of many last-day-of-the-season party people are in and of themselves a sight to behold. We locals call it “clown day” and if you’ve never checked it out – you just might want to consider putting this ski week on your calendar next year.

So slip into your spring ski gear and slap on a goofy hat and a tutu.  Skip on over to Deer Valley this weekend and enjoy the last days of the ski season with some rays of sunshine and some awesome runs.  Lift your plastic cup of beer and toast to another great year behind us and another great year ahead of us…and don’t worry if you’re not in town for the end of season fun this year – you’ve still got time to book your summer Park City vacation!

The hikingfishingbikingoutdoor concerts and Park Silly Sunday Market fun is still a couple months away and will be as wonderful as the winter!!!
