Spend Time on Main Street Shopping and Celebrating the Season

No matter what time of year you find yourself in Park City, time shopping along Main Street is always a highlight of the visit. That said, it’s hard to top this vibrant historic area over the holidays when the storefronts are packed with goodies to buy for gifts and the area eateries are serving up savory meals and snacks in abundance. If you spend time here between November 30 and Christmas Day, you’ll find Main Street is lit up in impeccable holiday style too! The stores are always dripping with holiday lights and décor, giving the entire area an amazingly festive vibe to enjoy—not to mention some great photo backdrops to try out.

Enjoy the Snow Globe Stroll

Between the end of November and early January, Main Street is also where visitors to Park City can plan on participating in the annual Snow Globe Stroll in good company. This fun and family-friendly event includes life-size snow globe displays throughout the Historic District that are crafted to meet an annual theme. In years past, the themes have been ‘Frosty the Snowman,” “Last Christmas,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” and “Winter Wonderland,” to name a few of many. Taking time to wander through and admire these oversized snow globes is always a treat, and if you’re in town with little ones, you can stop by Santa’s mailbox during the event and drop off wish list letters too.

Attend the Tree Lighting at Canyons Village

When your travel plans bring you to Park City a bit earlier in the holidays, you’ll be able to add the annual Canyons Village tree lighting to your list of must-do activities that infuse added magic into your stay. This is typically hosted at the end of November and runs from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. It’s a chance for visitors and locals to gather together and welcome in the holiday season ahead with live musical performances to enjoy, ornament decorating, photos with Santa, and a craft sale on-site too. After the tree lighting ceremony, there are fireworks as well. It’s an experience that’s designed to impress visitors of all ages and it’s one you won’t want to miss.

Take a Ride on the North Pole Express

If you’re looking to turn the fan-favorite seasonal book “The Polar Express” into a reality during your Park City stay this holiday season, the North Pole Express over at the Heber Valley Railroad puts on their own version that’s sure to inspire! This time of year, guests are invited to purchase tickets to ride the special North Pole Express train which carries passengers on a 90-minute trip complete with live entertainment and delicious food onboard. You can count on a meet-and-greet with Santa, special gifts handed out, and plenty of cookies and hot cocoa to go around. Just be sure to book your tickets well in advance as this holiday train ride experience is one that tends to sell out quickly.

Experience Silver Sky Nights

Over at Canyons Village at the end of December, the Silver Sky Nights event comes around each year, much to the delight of locals and visitors alike. When you attend Silver Sky Nights, you’ll be treated to live music on the forum stage after a day of skiing paired with free churros and photo opportunities with Santa. You’ll want to linger well into the evening enjoying the entertainment and sweets because there are fireworks to top everything off at the end.

Attend the Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long!

Travelers who can’t imagine the holidays away from home without including some of their favorite tunes into the experience will love every second of the Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long experience. Head over to 328 Main Street where the Egyptian Theatre will once again be hosting this musical event between December 13 and December 22 in 2024. This highly anticipated holiday show invites audience members to sing along with the holiday tunes presented on stage and dancing is highly encouraged too.
