It’s a picture-perfect destination on the map for solo travelers, couples, and groups of family and friends alike hoping to enjoy a summer getaway to remember. No matter what your travel interests may be, how long you stay, or how many others you’re traveling alongside this year, a Park City summer vacation is one-of-a-kind.
Look Forward to an Arrival That’s as Easy and Inviting as the Vacation
When you plan a summer getaway to Park City, you deserve to enjoy an experience that’s stress-free every step of the way. The good news is that it’s exactly what you can expect when you travel this way! Many summertime travelers excited to make the most of a well-deserved vacation in Park City in the warm weather months of the year find the easiest and quickest route to getting the fun underway is to book airline tickets into Salt Lake City International Airport. This modern and convenient landing destination is located just 35 minutes from the heart of Park City fun, and there are plenty of rental car kiosks on-site to choose from once you arrive as well. Because the Salt Lake City International Airport is served by so many major airlines, customizing your trip in according to preferred carrier routes is often a breeze.
Make Sure You Have Transportation Options in Place This Summer
It’s entirely possible to plan a summer getaway to Park City where you exclusively make it a point to relax and unwind in your luxurious vacation rental booked through Abode Park City. When this is your vacation vibe, you don’t have a need for much more than the comfort you find on-site! However, Park City is truly a fascinating place, and it’s well worth your while to set aside time to get out and explore more while you’re here. That makes having a rental vehicle in place during your stay a great idea for those times when you’re looking to discover something new and want to come and go as you please.
At Abode Park City, we’re more than happy to help our guests get settled in a summer rental with a private garage included as an added convenience when you have a rental vehicle in tow. This makes it simple to pick and choose when and where you explore, with the peace of mind you deserve that your vehicle is just fine when you’re making the most of downtime too. If you don’t end up using the garage as much as you thought you would for your vehicle, you can utilize the added space for recreational storage options while you’re in town this summer as well.
Additionally, it’s good for visitors to note that a popular way to enjoy sightseeing in Park City in the summertime is to hop on the free trolley that runs up and down Historic Main Street. This hop on, hop off experience is great for getting around with ease, but can also be used as a custom tour in and of itself when you’re looking to learn more about your surroundings. For those who are committed to maximizing time on public transportation when they travel somewhere new, your summer stay in Park City can include time on the Park City Bus System, which hits many top attractions as well as the resorts in town.

Summer Travel Tips When Park City is Your Destination of Choice
Planning a summer getaway to Park City is a popular choice among those who are excited to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. That said, you’ll want to be sure to keep in mind when you arrive that Park City sits at an elevation of around 7,000 feet. This can take some time to acclimate to, so you’ll want to plan excursions into nature accordingly by perhaps putting easier adventures first on the list and more challenging experiences towards the end of your stay when you’re more accustomed to the elevation. Similarly, having a GPS available for any and all hiking and biking adventures is a must if you’re focusing on backcountry travels, and exploring in groups is always highly recommended. Beyond that, Park City is a destination that values the protection of its natural resources. When you’re spending time here hiking, biking, fishing, or picnicking this summer, you’ll want to make sure you’re not leaving anything behind in your wake that could be detrimental to the environment, or those who are exploring after you.
Park City Summer Vacation Weather Expectations
An important part of planning your summer vacation in Park City is knowing what to expect in terms of weather. Travelers will find Park City located on the east side of the impressive Wasatch Mountain, and many visitors are delighted by the fact that Park City boasts four distinct seasons throughout the year. The surrounding mountains means Park City is subject to “micro-climates,” meaning weather can change quite drastically in varying parts of town as well as differing elevation points. That said, a typical summer day in Park City between June and August can see daily highs ranging from the upper 60s to the low 80s. By nightfall, those temperatures tend to drop down into the 50s due to higher elevation structures. The summer season is marked by only 1 to 1.4 inches of precipitation per month which accumulates over an average of five to eight days. For visitors heading this way this time of year, that means a mild and welcoming weather trend can be expected and while you might need the occasional umbrella, there’s no reason not to make the most of the outdoor fun ahead with plenty of sunshine on your side.
Summertime Eateries Not to Miss Out on When You’re Here
No matter what you end up adding to your summer itinerary when you plan a trip to Park City this year, you’ll eventually have an appetite to attend to. Fortunately, Park City is a place with no shortage of delicious options to enjoy when you’re looking to curb a craving. If you’re in the mood for an elegant meal to enjoy in good company with a focus on European-inspired dishes in a sophisticated setting, we highly recommend enjoying a meal at Fireside Dining at least once. Butcher’s Chop House and Bar is another terrific option when you’re looking to pair steak with world-class wine options while Riverhorse on Main has delightful seasonal plates to order up and sits right in the heart of Historic Main Street. The No Name Saloon is a fun place to drop by this summer with the family in tow when you’re looking to lean into Old West vibes, but if you’re parched and excited to try something local, time at the Wasatch Brewery is always worth your while. Five5eeds is a unique brunch stop in Park City for an Australian-inspired way to start your day, while Bartolo’s is a terrific addition to your must-try list this summer when nothing would hit the spot quite like a family-friendly Italian meal.

Embrace a Park Visit or Two During Your Summer Stay
With those above-mentioned great temperatures on your side this time of year, you’ll want to make sure you make some time in your Park City summer travel plans to check out the gorgeous green spaces that adorn this alluring vacation destination. Exploring some of Park City’s most iconic parks at your own preferred pace is a great way to spend an afternoon with family and friends and a top-notch choice when you’re traveling with kids of all ages, interests, and attention spans too. Whether you’re looking for a park to spend a sunny afternoon together that hosts picnic areas, shaded trails, sports courts or splash pads, you won’t have trouble finding it when Park City is your vacation destination of choice. We highly recommend added places like the sprawling City Park to your list as well as Prospector Park, Willow Creek Park, and Old Town Neighborhood Park just to name a few of many exciting options.
Shop Local in the Summertime
A great way to travel more sustainably is to make sure you put an emphasis on shopping local when you head out to discover new places. Supporting local businesses in the cities you set out to explore makes a big difference, and when you want to do exactly that this summer in Park City, heading over to the local farmer’s market is the place to start. The Park City farmer’s market is hosted on Wednesdays between May and October at Park City Mountain Resort and showcases the wares of artisans from across the city in abundance. There’s also live music to enjoy when you drop by, making this local shopping experience as entertaining as it is productive.
Get Out on the Greens in Style
Summer is a season for wonderful rounds of golf in Park City so if you’re someone who loves to make the most of time on the greens, this is the place for you. Destinations like the Canyons Golf Course, Park City Golf Club, Park Meadows, Painted Valley, and Glenwild are must-visits. However, that’s truly just a sampling of the vast opportunities for fun available to golf enthusiasts looking to check out public and private courses in town alike.

Enjoy Time Exploring Main Street
When you’re a traveler who appreciates the opportunity to build in great shopping and dining stops into your summer getaway, focusing your fun on Park City’s Historic Main Street is ideal. This central hub of culinary and retail entertainment is packed with gorgeous historic buildings to explore as well as boutique shops to check out too. From the art galleries and souvenir shops to the stores showcasing apparel and home goods as well, the options for finding what you’re looking for are seemingly endless. When you’re looking to learn a bit more about your surroundings during your visit, make sure to make your way to the Park City Museum in this area too. This is a great place for visitors of all ages to learn more about Park City’s rich mining past while browsing insightful exhibits and displays. The museum even hosts the city’s original underground jail, which is a fascinating place to tour at your own pace when you drop by.
Spend Time on the Hiking and Biking Trails
Park City is a summer vacation destination that’s adored by hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts alike and upon arrival, it doesn’t take much time to see why. The Park City Trail System is designed to inspire those who love to trek at skill levels of all types with opportunities to explore trails that are suitable for families all the way up to trails that are challenging for even the most experienced of hikers. If exploring on two wheels is more your style, routes like the Spine Trail, Fink Again Trail, and Armstrong Trail rank among the most popular in the area to try for yourself.
Enjoy Local, Seasonal Events in Good Company
When you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Park City this summer, you’ll quickly discover that the city is one that knows how to celebrate the season! Summer arrives with a long lineup of fun events on the Park City calendar, and visitors are more than welcome to participate in one, or as many as they’d like while they’re in town. Deer Valley is a great place to gather in the summertime as this is where you’ll enjoy access to the annual summer concert series at the Amphitheatre. The Park City Wine Festival comes to town in the summertime too, and if you have a love for creative inspiration, you’ll be delighted to find your trip might just align with the Main Street art exhibitions held regularly over at Park City Fine Art this time of year. There are typically a variety of film screening events hosted at Park City Film throughout the summertime, and Art on the Trails showcases incredible local works while highlighting the beauty of the Park City Trail System too.

There are technical trails, bike parks for all levels, and lift-access mountain biking at ski resorts during the summer. And if you want an experienced guide to show you best trails around, there are a number of reputable companies ready to take you for a ride. From easy single-track to heart-pounding technical trails, there’s something for everyone.
BEAUTIFUL HIKING
The mountains around Park City offer more than 100 miles of public hiking trails. There’s the partially paved 28-mile Rail Trail that runs from Park City to Echo Reservoir, networks of trails throughout the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, paths through nearby Wasatch Mountain State Park, and summer hiking at the ski resorts. All the trails have possible wildlife viewing and unique scenery.

Whether you’re looking for a good deal or want some designer goods, Park City is your shopping destination.
UNFORGETTABLE ZIP LINES
Park City in summer is the perfect time for a thrilling ride on a zip line. At Park City Mountain Resort, there’s the Flying Eagle (open in winter too) and Red Pine and Lookout zip lines. At Utah Olympic Park there’s the Extreme and Freestyle ZipRiders, some of the most popular attractions in the park. In most cases, the only limitation is height. So strap in and soar over incredible mountain scenery.
MOUNTAIN HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
Take a peaceful, scenic ride above beautiful Park City and the surrounding mountains in a hot air balloon. You can soar high above the treetops or go low enough to see the abundant wildlife. Rides range from one to several hours long. And every September, Park City hosts Autumn Aloft, a three-day hot air balloon festival. Check out Bigfoot Balloons and Skywalker Balloon Company for more information and to get started on your relaxing ride high above the city.
BOBSLED RIDES
Ever wanted to experience the thrill of bobsledding? Then the Utah Olympic Park has the activity for you. Hop on a bobsled—with an experienced pilot—and roll down the track used in the 2002 Olympics. The bobsleds, modified for summer use on the concrete track, go up to 60 mph in less than a minute. If you want to try out a quick Olympic-level thrill, check out bobsledding in Park City.
ALPINE SLIDE
If you’re looking for a ride down an alpine slide, Park City has three options. For thrill-seekers, there’s the Alpine Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort, with an automated ascent up the mountain and a long ride down. Though it’s considered a roller coaster, riders still control their speed. Another slide option at Park City Mountain Resort is the Alpine Slide, with four tracks that go 3,000 feet down a luge-like slide. There’s also the Alpine Slide at Utah Olympic Park, a single-track slide with 18 banked turns. Whether you want a roller-coaster experience or a ride at an Olympic venue, Park City has three alpine slide options for you.
